Poco X3 Release Date, Price and Spec rumours

Xiaomi’s Pocophone F1 turned plenty of heads when it launched back in 2018, but we’ve had to wait more than two years for a true successor.

The Poco X2 did launch back in February, but that was exclusive to India. While it looked like the device would be coming to other markets at some points, the official confirmation of the Poco X3 (or Poco X3 NFC, to give its full title) proves that Xiaomi is already ready for the next generation of Poco phone. Here’s everything you need to know.

When will the Poco X3 be released?

The global launch of the Poco X3 has been confirmed to take place at 1pm UK time on 7 September. A live stream will be available on YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and the MIUI (the name given to Xiaomi’s user interface) community page.

As is the case with the majority of phone launches, we’d expect the phone to be on sale a week or two later.

How much will the Poco X3 cost?

Nothing has been confirmed so far, so our best guess comes from the pricing of previous Poco phones.

The X2 was limited to India, but the ₹15,999 asking price converted to around £175/US$225 at launch.

The X3 is therefore being viewed as a successor to the Pocophone F1, which was launched back in 2018. That device cost £329 when it first released, making predicting the X3’s price extremely difficult.

Hopefully, the phone will cost under £250, which would make it eligible for a place in our best budget phone chart.

What specs will the Poco X3 have?

Poco has taken the unusual step of all but confirming leaks, even if they did come from the company’s Product Marketing Manager Angus Kai Ho Ng.

These include a 6.67in LCD screen with 120Hz refresh rate and 240Hz touch sampling, as well as a side-mounted fingerprint scanner built into the power button.

The device is also expected to be among the first to come with the new Snapdragon 732G processor, Qualcomm’s new mid-range chipset. It’s expected to bring upgraded CPU & GPUs and a Snapdragon Elite gaming suite, although there’s no support for 5G.

If you hadn’t guessed from the name, the Poco X3 will come with NFC, a feature that was missing from the Pocophone F1.

The render above reveals more about what we can expect, assuming this is the final design of the phone. The redesigned camera module houses four lenses, which are thought to include a 64Mp main sensor. On the front, a tiny punch-hole is enough space for a 20Mp selfie camera.

Elsewhere, the battery is expected to be a mammoth 5,160mAh and come with support for 33W fast charging.
