Most people stuck inside with a Netflix subscription will by now have binged Tiger King – the documentary that went from animals in captivity to full on murder plots – which has captured the world with its increasingly bizarre events and downright awful interviewees.

Fans of the series seem to agree that seven episodes wasn’t enough, and there’s lots of plot threads left open-ended. What happened to Jeff Lowe? Will Joe Exotic ever get out of jail? Will Carole Baskin ever be investigated by the feds?

Fortunately we may be in for some answers, as Netflix has confirmed that there’s more to come from the Tiger King participants. From new episodes of the Netflix series, to spin-off shows from other broadcasters, here’s everything we know so far.

Will there be an episode 8 of Tiger King?

Yes. Netflix has confirmed that a new Netflix episode, called ‘The Tiger King and I’, will premiere on Sunday 12 April.

Hosted by Joel McHale the eighth episode will feature all-new interviews with John Reinke, Joshua Dial, John Finlay, Saff, Erik Cowie, Rick Kirkman, and Jeff and Lauren Lowe.

Will Netflix commission Tiger King for season 2?

Again, a second season of Tiger King from Netflix isn’t something officially on the cards at the moment, but the producers haven’t ruled it out completely. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Eric Goode and Rebecca Chaiklin stated: “…we have a crazy amount of footage and it’s a story that’s still unfolding. We’re not sure yet, but there could be a follow-up on this story”.

What may be the tricky part is getting interviewees to return. Carole Baskin pushed back on her portrayal in the documentary in a blog post on her website, as did Doc Antle on his social media platforms. Whether or not the producers will be able to make enough amends to continue to get sources first-hand remains to be seen.

Whilst a season 2 from Netflix may be murky, other channels have jumped on the chance to expand on the story of Tiger King.

Investigating the Strange World of Joe Exotic

ID (Investigation Discovery) is pursuing a brand new documentary called ‘Investigating the Strange World of Joe Exotic’, which will primarily focus on Joe Maldonado-Passage himself, and his nemesis Carole Baskin.

The series will feature never-before-seen footage, and will delve deeper into the mystery of Carole’s husband, Don Lewis. However, the show will also try to unearth any more dirty laundry that other people involved have, like Doc Antle and Jeff Lowe. We don’t yet know the estimated date for this show – but we’ll keep our eyes peeled for more information.

ID is an American-owned channel from the Discovery INC brand, and is available on premium subscription services in the US and Europe. There’s been no official word yet on whether the show will be syndicated elsewhere in the world.

Dramatic adaptations of Tiger King

Since the documentary spread like wildfire, Hollywood has clamoured to get the rights to create movies and shows all about the unique series. Universal Content Productions were the first to jump on board, casting SNL’s Kate McKinnon in the lead role of a dramatic adaptation about the life of Carole Baskin.

Rob Lowe also put a post on his Instagram (cosplaying as Joe Exotic) stating that he and Ryan Murphy were creating their own version of the story. We suspect this is a joke, but who knows?

How can I watch Tiger King?

If you’ve somehow missed the wacky Tiger King train, you can get onboard by watching it on Netflix. You can subscribe to the service from as little as £5.99/$9 per month, which becomes more expensive if you want simultaneous streams and ultra-HD content.
